W. David McIlvain, II, 51 of Glen Allen, Va. formerly of Huntington, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Richmond, after an extended illness. David was born April 28, 1965 in Huntington, W.Va. a son of William “Bill” and Carolyn “Joy” McIlvain, both of Huntington. He was a graduate of Huntington High School, Marshall University where he received his B.A. and M.A. Degree. David was practice manager with Bon Secours Richmond Health Systems and served in the U. S. Navy Reserves. He was active with League 3 – Little League Baseball and founder...

David was born April 28, 1965 in Huntington, W.Va. a son of William “Bill” and Carolyn “Joy” McIlvain, both of Huntington. He was a graduate of Huntington High School, Marshall University where he received his B.A. and M.A. Degree. David was practice manager with Bon Secours Richmond Health Systems and served in the U. S. Navy Reserves. He was active with League 3 – Little League Baseball and founder of the Huntington High Lacrosse Team. A member of The Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Murdock and the Dreamers, B.P.O. Elks 313 and the Huntington Southside Association. In addition to his parents, David is survived by his son and daughter; Molly McIlvain of Circleville, Ohio and Devin McIlvain of Denver Co.; one sister and one brother, Carol (Rodney) Ashworth and Scott McIlvain both of Huntington and his nephews, Trevor, Chase and Nicholas Ashworth. A. Memorial Service will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by The Rev. Hubert Harvey. A Gathering of family and friends will be Saturday 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be private for the family in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Robert St. Clair, Kevin Stephens, Kevin Morris, David Miller, Victor McClure and Andy Williams are serving as Honorary Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to The Big Green Scholarship Foundation or the Organization of One’s choice.
